MANY BRIDES CALL US BEFORE A TRUNK SHOW FULL OF QUESTIONS ON HOW A TRUNK SHOW WORKS AND WHAT EXACTLY GOES ON DURING ONE. WELL WE’RE HERE TO BREAK IT DOWN FOR YOU!
What does this mean for you, the bride?
It means if you’ve been looking for a certain gown style that a store doesn’t carry this is your time to try it on without having to pay for the gown to be sent out if its available. Loaner programs are available through some design houses. This program enables a bride to try a dress on by paying for shipping if the store does not carry a certain style from a designer they carry. In many cases brides confuse a trunk show with an actual runway show or even sample sales. A trunk show simply gives the bride the chance to see the entire collection and sometimes the chance to talk to a representative or even a designer!
So what are the benefits of buying during a trunk show?
For smaller bridal salons an entire collection may be close to impossible to carry so a huge benefit to booking an appointment during a trunk show is your ability to view the whole collection. You might really like the top of one gown but not the bottom, there may be a similar top in the collection that may be exactly what your looking for. Beyond that another tremendous benefit is taking advantage of the discount that is offered during the trunk show. This is the only time many stores are able to discount designer gowns that are ordered!
How do the sample sizes run?
For the most part, the samples sent will be sizes 10 and 12. Bridal sizing runs like a typical European size, two sizes smaller than what the number reflects. Sometimes a designer may send a gown in a runway size because it is what they have in stock, this is generally a size 4. You can find out what size a certain dress may be coming in by calling the store hosting the trunk show.
