Till next time Hot Rods!
We feel like Christmas has come early this year with a few of our favorite designers shipping out our orders a little earlier than normal! We're thrilled to share a few gowns that have already arrived and some trendy numbers that will be here SOON!
Here's what we have in store now 2018 || 2019 brides:
Stella has wowed us with her detailing this coming year, it has really gone above and beyond! The dress above not only has the clear sequin underlay to give supreme shine but banded straps that are trimmed with pearls.
There wasn't a single Justin gown that din't make a statement but this detachable train took statement to the next level. We knew we had to have it when we laid eyes on it, which was a similar situation we had when looking at each gown!
Here's what will be shipping out within the next few months:
Justin's newest collection is full of all the hottest trends for the upcoming year! We are so thrilled to have this millennial blue gown in the store, we've had tones of blue before but this Justin takes the cake with its elegance.
Martina showcased some brilliant backs in her latest collection. We added some great V-backs to our own collection from the whole Essense design house! We cannot wait to get them in!
Many of our Hayley Paige picks were nothing like our last Hayley Paige buy. Some of these 2018 gowns will be replacing older styles in our store that have a special place in our hearts, for example the Londyn gown and River gown.
We hope you are just as eager as we are to get these stunning gowns in! We look forward to seeing you shine in them #FutureBellaBride !
The creative Dona Liston of Lambermont events was inspired by a real wedding she put on at the castle on Grayson Street. The details pulled together throughout the historic beauty that is Lambermont Castle placed your tracks right in the Hogwarts Castle!
GOLDEN SNITCH, ANYONE?
If a Golden Snitch doesn’t sound delectable to you we’d hope that Butter Beer does! From the drinks to the bites Harry Potter himself would have been glad to be at this wedding!
We brought out two very fitting gowns for the location and theme! We had such a blast straying away from the mainstream look and just went big and bold with one of our favorite stylists, Stephanie Eiland.
Our gold accessories really picked up in the castle and highlighted the decor! How wicked is the gold headpiece in model Serena Paris’ purple hair?!
For the reception look we really brought out the whimsy: I’m talking smoke bombs (no dresses were harmed in the process), black veils, and levitation!

We had to do an ode to 2016 because it was truly spectacular, filled with trunk shows and events, new designer pick ups, and insanely creative collaborations! We are so grateful to be apart of so many beautiful moments and marriages in 2016 and can't wait to cherish what 2017 holds in store! Here are a few of our favorite times of this past year:
LOVE OUT LOUD SHOOT
2018 STELLA YORK TESTER TRUNK SHOW
The biggest honor of the year was being 1 of 10 chosen out of hundreds of stores to host a tester trunk show. Allowing brides in San Antonio to be apart of a huge decision making process alongside our fabulous representative from Stella York was one if not THE best moment of 2016! We cannot wait to see what made the cut but we have a pretty good feeling about what did!
MOMENTS OF MAGIC AT LAMBERMONT CASTLE
Its not every day you get asked to do a Harry Potter themed shoot so we couldn't pass the opportunity up! We brought the queen of whimsy (Hayley Paige) out to Lambermont Castle to create the up most magic.
We adored working with Ann Michael Weddings & Vanity Eiland once again!
Market always brings excitement for the next year especially when you are blown away by new designs and particular gowns! It was all about Kitty Chen during market, not only did we meet the designer but we gained exclusivity to the line in the San Antonio region! As our newest Kitty gowns trickle in we are reminded of the first time we laid eyes on them at market.
CELEBRATING SAN ANTONIO WEDDINGS MAGAZINE COVER
We graced the first cover of San Antonio Weddings Magazine this year with an impeccable shot from Castle Avalon. SAW had a beautiful soiree at the St. Anthony to roll out a year of cover photos.
SHOOTING WITH LARRY JOHNSON & MODEL JULIE ERNES
Everything shot at Studios at Fischer this past year was dreamy and romantic but throw a Maxim model in the mix and its turned up to the max! We brought bombshell bride material out for Julie whom is currently engaged! The best part was exciting her for her actual wedding day, best wishes Julie!
RECEIVING THE BEST OF THE KNOT THANKS TO OUR AMAZING BRIDES & FAMILY MEMBERS
We can't thank all of our Bella Brides enough for going out of your way to leave sweet words about your experience with us! We are beyond grateful!
BRING ON 2017
Just as the hunt for your gown may be a small journey the hunt for a veil to go with can become even more so a process. It's all about personal style and taste, don't let it be hard!
Let's start with the basics:
Veils were first recorded in history during ancient Greek times; the bride to be wore a flame red colored veil to scare off spirits. As time went on and arranged marriages became more prevalent the blusher was seen to shield the brides face as the man at the end of the aisle hadn't yet seen her. Later down the road veil lengths grew longer and longer to symbolize social status. The tradition of pulling back a blusher to be unveiled to ones future husband is still around but veil lengths symbolizing certain statuses - not so much!
Many brides chose a length to their comfort and taste. In some cases the floor to cathedral length overwhelms a bride who has a more simplistic style. If a bride is still overwhelmed with a shorter style she may lean towards a dainty bridal headpiece.
If a bride is looking to have a blusher it is always nice when the veil comes with it attached. This particular veil is fingertip length with the blusher attachment, if a bride chooses to not wear the blusher over her face it is equally beautiful behind her giving off a layered look.
We paired this veil with Kira from the Pronovias 2017 collection to not take away from its divinely detailed back. A simple trim allows this dress to really speak and show off what its about without distracting.
Below you can see a veil with bling trim instead of the ribbon trim paired with Bijou by Hayley Paige. Since the gown itself has no embellishments we chose to bring a little sparkle in with a cathedral veil. Typically a Hayley Paige bride isn't afraid of a cathedral length veil and wants nothing more than to make a statement!
Some veils cascade around the shoulders really assisting a bride who may be getting married in a church and happens to be wearing a strapless gown. Some churches allow this and others want a strap or sleeve.
Going back to personal style and taste if a bride prefers no embellishments or trim on her veil there is always the simple tulle veil. This is always a go-to for the bride that is unsure of wearing a veil at all.
When searching for your veil, here's what to keep in mind:
Does the veil take away from my gown?
Glance at your full look and take in the whole picture, does the whole picture flow? Do you have a balance of what your looking for?
Does the veil blend into the dress on into the train of the dress?
If your veil is clashing or blending into the gown try something different! The last thing you want to do is take away from your wedding gown.
Play with the options Bella's
THIS WEEK WE’RE HIGHLIGHTING THE EVER-SO FABULOUS HAYLEY PAIGE IN LIGHT OF HAVING OUR FALL BEST OF HAYLEY PAIGE TRUNK SHOW THIS WEEKEND! WE’LL SHARE JUST WHY WE LOVE THIS WHIMSICAL DESIGNER & DROP A FEW SNEAK PEEKS OF WHATS TO COME THIS WEEKEND!
We’ve expressed our obsession with Hayley in small forms in previous blogs but just had to take it further this week! Her bubbly personality is transcended into dresses that speak a thousand words. From Hayley’s trademark horse hair trim on fun, layered skirts to extreme detailed bodices there’s not an inch of her gowns we don’t go crazy for! Her lively designs may not be every brides cup of tea but for the bride looking for a not so cookie-cutter gown her gowns are just that.
If you haven’t seen Hayley & Hubby Daniel’s wedding day photos, your in for a some serious wild wedspiration! Many times we describe Hayley’s wedding to brides & family members in store who can’t quit grasp her out-there concepts and designs. We are super thrilled to have the Hayley gown she wore during her wedding at our Best of Hayley Paige trunk show this weekend!
HERE’S WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING THIS WEEKEND:
Wedding gowns with detailed backs sure to leave wedding guests speechless!
Yes, we are talking about Teresa (seen above) once again making an appearance here in store. The bead work on this particular gown has our hearts throbbing every time we see it!

NYBFW LEFT US SPEECHLESS FOR A FEW WEEKS AND WE’RE BACK NOW READY TO BREAK ALL THE EYE-CATCHING TRENDS DOWN! THIS BRIDAL FASHION WEEK BROUGHT NEW AND OLD AND CERTAINLY A MIX OF BOLD STATEMENTS. STATEMENTS MADE IN PREVIOUS YEARS WERE BLOWN AWAY WITH BIGGER & BETTER VERSIONS, CALL IT BRIDAL 2.0 ON EMBROIDERY AND EMBELLISHMENTS.
Hayley Paige bared it all and enlightened us with sweet statements down the runway. A few of her gowns had quotes straight out of a book called ‘Property of Good Vibes’ she helped write and illustrate, it really couldn’t get any more original! We’ve seen her backs becoming more and more exposed but this particular gown gives the Bride wanting to show it all that ability. Katie May meets Hayley Paige whimsy.
Capes aren’t going anywhere anytime soon ladies! Tony Ward mimics the lace pattern towards the trim of the cape really adding a flair to the cape. In previous seasons and designs dramatic capes have graced the runway but instead of plain tulle this twist on the cape takes place of a veil that may match up to a tee. Expect to see many capes and over skirts down the aisles next year.
BUBBLY BUBBLE SLEEVES
Hayley Paige brought out bubble sleeves to several different gown designs. We’ve seen plays on wide, bohemian sleeves but Hayley’s mark on the bubble sleeve is unique, as the designer would say herself there’s “zero chill when it comes to sparkle.” The pairing of volume and sparkle is spectacular, NYE wedding anyone?
3D BECOMES MORE LIVELY
Through extreme textures, patterns, and appliques 3D is popping out to another level next year. This trend is certainly not for the soft-spoken Bride. Galia Lahav took a dramatic play utilizing floral appliques with different dimensions. The illusion throughout combined with the over skirt really creates the sexy edginess we all love about Galia.
FLOCKING BACK TO FEATHERS
After a hiatus feathers have found their way back to the bridal nest. Feathers really give a playful characteristic to wedding gowns, its certainly another trend for the bolder bride. We’ve seen lively feather skirts and touches of feathers through out gowns but Pronovias‘ play on feathers really extends the range of brides that can rock it.
Needless to say there is a lot to look forward to next year!
We can’t wait to share Bella’s Bridal Buys with you!
STAY PLAYFUL BELLA’S
When it comes to meeting modern with traditional, Hayley Paige never lets us down! She is hands down our favorite for mixing these two elements most brides look for. Our fave this week is Esther by Hayley Paige.
What makes her our fave besides the twist on a traditional gown?
A combination of lightweight loveliness and fun silver striping make Esther simply divine. As much as this gown may look like a ball gown it is a modified ball gown so there is no crinoline giving it volume. With no crinoline and organza layering it is truly a breeze to move in making this gown perfect for the bride wanting a ball gown but afraid of how hot it may be or even how voluminous it may be.
Another perk on Esther is the rouged band around the high waist, it creates a beautiful shape by accentuating the waist. Esther also has a twist on the sweetheart that is very different! Many chose to raise this bust line by an inch which is an option through the design house.
The options available on this dress are remarkable! Another option that Hayley Paige allows at a cost is to have Esther made without the striping, which hits home to the brides looking for a more traditional look.
How do I accessorize Esther?
Even with the striping going through-out the gown it is so easy to jazz it up whether you are looking for more bling or just a simple touch. One guideline for the striped version of Esther would be to stick to any silver jewelry, gold accessories could of course be worn with the all ivory version of Esther.
Below you see how beautifully silver accessories can compliment the striping. To not draw away from the dress we chose a statement sash and a nice earring, nothing too large but definitely no stud.
CHECK BACK FOR MORE SOON BELLA'S!
WE’RE BACK WITH A NEW FAVORITE BELLA’S! INTRODUCING THE KALEA GOWN FROM THE BLUSH BY HAYLEY PAIGE COLLECTION. SHE’S THE MERMAID FRATERNAL TWIN TO HALO (ANOTHER FAVE OF OURS)!
With bold lace and an even bolder back this gown could not make a bigger statement! The combination of tulle and lace is the perfect match for the bride not looking for a whole lot of embellishments but for a gown that speaks for itself. That must be why we love this masterpiece. Occasionally we come across a bride who falls in love with a gown like this one but apart of her criteria contained BLING. We always suggest bringing the bling through a nice earring, headpiece, and veil.
Kalea can be ordered in an ivory underlay with ivory lace our gown has the nude underlay to really bring the lace out. This contrast really creates that bold effect, ivory on ivory will look slightly more traditional blending together.
HOW WE ACCESSORIZED:
We chose to bring the bling with a Marionat hair comb and a pair of our favorite Haute Bride earrings and cathedral length veil. With an intricately detailed back we chose not to take away from it with an embellished veil, the veil is simple yet so spectacular because of its length, much like the dress it makes a statement on its own.
STAY TUNED FOR MORE BELLA’S
MANY BRIDES CALL US BEFORE A TRUNK SHOW FULL OF QUESTIONS ON HOW A TRUNK SHOW WORKS AND WHAT EXACTLY GOES ON DURING ONE. WELL WE’RE HERE TO BREAK IT DOWN FOR YOU!
What does this mean for you, the bride?
It means if you’ve been looking for a certain gown style that a store doesn’t carry this is your time to try it on without having to pay for the gown to be sent out if its available. Loaner programs are available through some design houses. This program enables a bride to try a dress on by paying for shipping if the store does not carry a certain style from a designer they carry. In many cases brides confuse a trunk show with an actual runway show or even sample sales. A trunk show simply gives the bride the chance to see the entire collection and sometimes the chance to talk to a representative or even a designer!
So what are the benefits of buying during a trunk show?
For smaller bridal salons an entire collection may be close to impossible to carry so a huge benefit to booking an appointment during a trunk show is your ability to view the whole collection. You might really like the top of one gown but not the bottom, there may be a similar top in the collection that may be exactly what your looking for. Beyond that another tremendous benefit is taking advantage of the discount that is offered during the trunk show. This is the only time many stores are able to discount designer gowns that are ordered!
How do the sample sizes run?
For the most part, the samples sent will be sizes 10 and 12. Bridal sizing runs like a typical European size, two sizes smaller than what the number reflects. Sometimes a designer may send a gown in a runway size because it is what they have in stock, this is generally a size 4. You can find out what size a certain dress may be coming in by calling the store hosting the trunk show.

THE BOLERO IS THE PERFECT TRANSFORMATION PIECE FOR BRIDES LOOKING TO COVER UP FOR THE CEREMONY, WHETHER IT BE FOR THE CHURCH OR FOR THEIR OWN PERSONAL STYLE AND COMFORT. IN MANY CASES A BRIDE WANTS TO HAVE TWO LOOKS AND AREN’T AWARE IT CAN BE DONE WITHOUT HAVING TO ACTUALLY BUY TWO DIFFERENT WEDDING GOWNS. IT CAN BE AS EASY AS 1,2,3!
Many Bella's come to us looking to find a dress that will be timeless. They try on a mix of styles and run into problems when they start to love a modern style or even small feature of the dress. Worries arise on whether or not 5-10 years down the road that the dress in question will be timeless or just a fad that came and went.
Bridal Fashion Week affirmed the presence of a few trends we seem to get questions on. These trends are going to stick around and be seen all over Pinterest for a few more years! Lets break them down!
Visibly seeing a corset top throws many brides off, its a bold move that will be carrying on through out next year. If a bride isn't typically used to seeing herself in sexier clothing wearing a wedding gown that has the underwear element to it can feel as exposed as Vera Wang's take on the trend for Spring 2017 (seen below). To some the thought of wearing a risque dress around family members could give someone a heart attack, having the dress lined in its more sheer panels can help relieve the situation.
Bows Brought to Life
The statement bow is easy to accept for playful brides who dress very youthful but for those on a more serious side it is harder to love. Size is always an issue, in many cases we see the bride wanting a smaller sized bow or no bow at all. Its definitely a matter of personality and taste. One thing is certain that bows, flowers, and bling will not be leaving the scene as a means of giving life to wedding gowns.
A Matter of Color
Different tones of ivory, blush, and champagne are common to see for dress lining colors but Spring 17' brings a twist to color in the wedding industry. 'Something blue' can now be your entire dress not just a patch sewn in the inside of a gown or sticker on the bottom of a pair of heels. Black bridesmaids dresses are thrown to the curb and replaced with black wedding gowns for the not-so-traditional bride.
Bling It On
Bling will not be leaving us anytime soon, year by year the intricacy of the embellishments becomes more apparent and eye-catching. It makes sense figuring the way designers want to out-do a previous design and keep innovating. As women we want the same, we don't want the same look as our friends or even third-cousin removed's wedding gown. Bling and lace allow for differentiation. Lace isn't questioned like all the shine and shimmer is because we tend to think we are over-doing it. NEWS FLASH: It's your wedding day, go all out bling it on its not going out of style!
Patterns & Textures
Striped gowns and horsehair trim will be making another huge splash for the seasons to come. Much like bling different patterns and textures are hesitated against because we are unsure if we are over-doing it. Patterns can confuse us because we are used to seeing them on casual wear more so than a wedding gown. Until you try these bold gowns on you will never know how it will look on you!
